Day 27: Double Circle

Today’s Reading:
Day 27 / Double Circle (pages 150-154)

My ah-ha from today’s reading:

“We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit, but we have to empty ourselves first. And one of the best ways to empty ourselves is through fasting.”

It’s so easy to say, “Oh, fasting isn’t for me – I don’t feel led to do that.”

At least it is for me sometimes.

But this chapter points out soooo many examples of why fasting IS for me. Come on, Jesus gave us THE example of fasting! If he needed it, so do I!

And it’s not just food. Media. Noise. Bondage.

I’ll be the first to admit that I need a break sometimes from things of this world that take hold of our lives – a break to hear God.

There were so many areas that came to my mind as I read today’s chapter. Writing, our kids, our church, our business, our home….our family…

The list goes on and on. We have issues and struggles in every one of these areas of our lives.

God is calling me to be different. Most people never give up anything. I don’t want to be like most people anymore. Time to get serious and give God full control of my life.

Anyone else encouraged by today’s reading? Have ideas for what you want to fast in your life? When are you going to get started?

  1. My wonderful Sunday School teacher has been teaching on this for awhile. Fasting from food I believe is the hardest but yet can help us the most! Our body will die without food! We will also die Spirtually without our dailey bread, the word of God! Also speaking of fasting she also spoke one Sunday on fasting from our words!! Wow that one hit me hard also! ..Thank you Starr for leading this! Love you!

  2. I try to do a Facebook fast frequently. It sometimes does not goes as good as I hoped but I like to unplug from that and plug more into God. I do not fast food. I do not fast often either. This chapter was a serious eye opener to me too. As I am a few days behind (again) I think it was right on time! I need to fast for a situation in my life to see some BIG results!
