Today’s Reading:
Day 11 / First-Class Noticer (pages 67-71)
My ah-ha from today’s reading:
“Prayer turns us into first-class noticers. It helps us see what God wants us to notice. The more you pray, the more you notice; the less you pray, the less you notice. It’s as simple as that.”
I’m learning as I get older, the times in my life when I’m most frustrated and most difficult to get along with – those are the times when my prayer life is lacking.
When I’m in tune with God and focused on spending time with Him as a priority – my perspective, attitude, and approach to life are all different. I’m nicer. I’m easier to get along with. Yucky things don’t stick to me. Difficult conversations don’t play over and over in my head.
I like me a lot better in that 2nd scenario.
The me that gets carried away with this busy life and neglects my prayer life is not pretty. No one wants to be around her. My family doesn’t enjoy her at all.
And she doesn’t notice others. She’s too worried about herself most of the time.
Why do I let her take over so many times in my life, when I know she isn’t the best version of me?
Prayer changes my life. I do notice more when I pray.
I notice the friend that is hurting and I seek to understand instead of judging her. I notice my husband that is frustrated and I come along side instead of beating him down. I notice the coworker that is struggling and I extend grace instead of doubt.
I want to live more days like this. And less days like the me without prayer.
What have you noticed lately since you’ve been praying more – about yourself or others?
PS – I’m going to begin sending the daily alert on the weekends at 8am. I’ll continue the alerts during the week at7am. Every post is loaded the night before, so you can always view them whenever you like here: > https://praysalot.wordpress.com/

What stood out for me is When we pray, God comes at us in ways that startle and thrill us. If only we could spend enough time in prayer to be startled! We can keep trying…..
