Lent Day 15

Today’s Bible Reading:
Matthew 24:36-51

36“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.
37“When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. 38In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. 39People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.
40“Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. 41Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.
42“So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. 43Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would keep watch and not permit his house to be broken into. 44You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected.
45“A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. 46If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. 47I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns. 48But what if the servant is evil and thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’ 49and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk? 50The master will return unannounced and unexpected, 51and he will cut the servant to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Verse of the Day:

Devotional Reading:

I’m not going to write a devotional today.

I’m simply going to share this video that speaks to what we read.

Note: yes, there are typo’s in this video. This is an old song and this is the best youtube video that I could find 🙂

There’s no time to change your mind. Are you ready?

    1. I was thinking about this last night as well, Melissa. There’s not much time left. This really helped me to create an urgency to pray and seek God on their behalf.

  1. To me this is one of the scariest verses in the Bible. Sometimes we live life like it doesn’t matter. But it does. He could come today or 100 years from now. But it matters.

One of my daily prayers (or whenever I think of them) is for Him to send someone to witness to my unsaved loved ones. Someone that they will pay attention to.

And I’ve been convicted recently on my witness at work. And even with friends. I need to remember to watch my words and attitude and negativity.

    1. Agree on this being scary! It’s kind of like one of those things that we think won’t happen to us. Like a car wreck – you never think it will happen to you, until it does. It is so tempting to feel as though God wouldn’t come back in our generation, but we HAVE to be ready. I love that prayer, asking God to put people in our paths and that God will put people in the paths of those that we love that will say something that makes a difference. I will pray for you at your work and I am trying to work on my attitude and words ALL the time 🙂

  2. This song was popular when I was a teenager. I think of it all the time! I want people to see Jesus in me and I want them to want what I have, eternal life. I pray that God will check my thoughts and words so that what people hear and see from me are Christ centered! Always!
