Day 2: Listen, Hear & Respond

Last night I re-read a little from the original Circle Maker book. Here’s something that stood out to me about my prayers:

“Drawing prayer circles isn’t some magic trick to get what you want from God. God is not a genie in a bottle, and your wish is not His command. His command better be your wish. If it’s not, you won’t be drawing circles; you’ll end up walking in circles. Drawing prayer circles starts with discerning what God wants, what God wills. And until His sovereign will becomes your sanctified wish, your prayer life will be unplugged from its power supply.” (The Circle Maker – pg 16)

This morning my circle time was all about hearing God. It’s so natural for me to come directly to Him in prayer with my insane list of needs and wants. But today, I just kept going back to, “Lord, I want to just hear You. I want to be able to recognize Your voice speaking to me. I want to listen closely and intently, recognize and hear, then quickly respond.”

I absolutely feel under qualified and overwhelmed, but that is when God has me where He wants me.

My favorite part of Day 2 is when it talks about how “God wants us to get where God wants us to go more than we want to get where God wants us to go!” Ha! Kinda sounds like something I would read in a children’s book. It’s so simple! Yes, God sets our appointments and opportunities EVERY SINGLE DAY. We just have to show up, listen, and respond!

My prayer for our group today:
“God, I ask You directly to make Yourself known to us during this journey. Let us slow down enough to learn Your voice and to recognize Your Spirit living within us. I know you have divine appointments for every single person today. Give us eyes to see – take off any blinders. Give us ears that aren’t hindered by the noises around us. Give us a boldness to respond to whatever You ask us to do. Let it not be about our plans and control, but about walking the path that You have paved especially for us. Amen!”

Are you being accountable for your daily appointment? Let me know if you need a check in 🙂

Have a GREAT Monday, friends!

What a great chapter. How convicting it was for me. How many times do I have my plan and not God’s plan. How many opportunities have I missed because I was too focused on me. It is not all about me and this was my wake up. I need to be about Gods work and the rest will work itself out. The more try to push our agenda the more messed up it will get anyway.

    1. Yes! I think about how many times that God has specifically placed an annoying situation or person in my path – and that it was likely an appointment that He set for me that day. But, then crazy me lets my frustrations take over and I’m anything but helpful. I just take things into my own hands and fuss and gripe. I don’t want to miss any of those opportunities anymore!!

I can’t believe I was re-reading some of exact same passages from the Circle Maker as you were last night. Maybe God IS telling us something. Yes, my list too is LONNNNNGGGGG. I do need to STOP and LISTEN. I get so caught up in the everyday things, that I don’t take the time to just BE STILL and KNOW that HE IS GOD. Today….I just listen….I already enjoy (and look forward to many more!!) my morning “walks” around “Jericho”. At 5:15 this morning it was so quiet and peaceful…it was just me and Him.

    1. You are soooo stinkin’ inspiring!!! I can see you marching and I woke up thinking about you this morning. I love how God is totally keeping us on the same page, so many miles apart! Thank you for taking this journey with me and for making this so very real in your life!!! I love you, Aunt Debra!
